SEPIA
By Julie Dalia

NEW RELEASE:
Adult Alternative/Progressive Folk

Julie Dalia's debut album, SEPIA, is a delicate portrait for the discerning listener. Featuring the timeless, soaring beauty of a world-class soprano, SEPIA is world-class music for many other reasons.

The songs on this digital recording are imagistic and evocative, defying easy categorization. During its pre-release, a sweep of international rave reviews christened SEPIA as "Adult Alternative" and as "Crossover Music." Themes stretch from the mythic to the soulful with a literary yet very human, almost innocent essence. Elements of jazz, classical, rock and blues are integrated by the haunting, emotional presence of Dalia's flawless voice.

Even the jazz listener will be satisfied with the writing. Dalia's unique electric and acoustic guitar styles, coupled with extraordinary performances on jazz bass by Marty Ruddy, and dazzling electric lead guitar treatments by Jeff Ebnother, to name a few of the many musicians on board, create a seamless, breathing flow reminiscent of tides. SEPIA was written and produced by Julie Dalia and mastered by Bernie Grundman in Los Angeles.

The tunes span from the rockish, dark "Your Face No More" to the tribal elegy "Daughters," which, incidentally, is sung partly in Cherokee and Kickapoo Ojibwe; to "Tchefuncte River" -- a virtuosic vocal piece having roots in Civil War era music; through, finally, the sparse, intense title track, "Sepia" -- a statement about women and culture taking reference from Greek Myth.

Not simplified or abridged, it is a demanding work.

SEPIA Is Rich In Innuendo Yet Soothingly Melodic.

Our feedback about Julie Dalia's SEPIA is that it is wonderfully rich and complex - far from easy-listening; that it is full of surprises; that her voice is incredibly beautiful, and that is it good to listen to all alone in the dark; last, that it is good music to love by…we know that you will be pleased if you buy this album.

ONE WAY TICKET
By Carl Vigilante

NEW RELEASE:
Modern Folk Music

Watercolor by Carl Vigilante

This heartfelt, well-crafted debut album defines Carl Vigilante's exceptional talents as both writer and performer for the folk music world. Recorded in the modern folk tradition, using a richly acoustic medium, ONE WAY TICKET is pure pleasure from beginning to end. Vigilante's voice is a rich compliment to the tuneful, often sweet guitar, banjo, and fiddle mixes. The vignette-like quality of each arrangement lends the album tremendous continuity and presence, each song a lyrical painting.

Through his songs, Carl Vigilante allows an open invitation into his world of mountains, nature, and the workings of the heart. His rural Pennsylvania upbringing and lifetime of rural living is vitally alive as a backdrop on which other themes are thoughtfully and meditatively layered. His music transports the listener into another time and place, where life is simpler and definitely sweeter.

Recorded in Medford, Oregon, ONE WAY TICKET showcases some of the finest folk and bluegrass players in America. First is Carl Vigilante as guitarist and harmonica player extraordinaire, whose sense of folk rhythms and melody is simply inborn. On banjo is Frank Sullivan, a player known far and wide for his dexterous and sensitive plucking. The sweetest fiddle west of the Mississippi, and maybe east of it, too, is played by Bill Jacoby - a national bluegrass champion. Together with these and many more players, a sense of ease and flow just happens on this album. An unplanned synthesis rises above the mere tunes and takes flight as stories, capturing the heart and soul of folk music.

Ceres Records is proud to have Carl on board, and we hope that you will purchase his album and become one of many people who listen to ONE WAY TICKET in their cars during busy commutes, as welcome relief after a stressful day, or as beautiful music to play and treasure at home. Our feedback about Carl's music is that it appeals to all ages, but especially to lovers of pure, un-canned, non-rhinestone, superbly performed and recorded folk music.

What Ceres Records does NOT do:

We do not undertake pop jingles, radio production, or digital video music syncing (or Internet syncing), although we do compose and record the underscoring used in video and Motion Pictures. We do not write or compose jingles or jingle music. We do not usually do orchestral or wall-of-sound mixes on a custom basis, unless it is within the context of a Motion Picture or Commissioned Work.

Stated another way, our music generally reflects more composed styles, alternative styles, or Modern/Progressive Folk music, which is (generally) stylistically very different from the radio jingle market. However, as we have all been amazed to see over time, sometimes, [such as hearing Led Zeppelin on Cadillac commercials], great music can be used in mass marketing in unexpected ways. We can also do any moody groove music if it appears artistically appropriate. If you hear us and know us, you might have a hunch where we fit in to the bigger picture. Please send inquiries to audio@ceresrecords.com, our contact address for Custom Music.
